AFAS Independent Study Form

Submit the following application if you wish to do an Independent Study course in AFAS. Please know that to do an Independent Study you will need a faculty sponsor and approval from the department chair.

Course Information
Semester
In addition to a brief description of your project, include how many hours per week (3-4 hour/week=1 credit; 6-7 hours/week=2 credits; 9-10 hours/week=3 credits) you will send on the project and the deliverables agreed upon by you and your faculty sponsor--e.g., the type of work such as archival and where, bi-weekly reflections, mid-semester update, annotations, and/or final report and length.
Agreement
By submitting this form you have agreed to complete an Independent Study in the Department of African & African American Studies based upon the aforementioned terms with the listed faculty sponsor. This form will be routed to the faculty sponsor for confirmation, and then presented to the AFAS Undergraduate Curriculum Committee for approval. At that time you will be notified of the status of your application.
