Abraham Taylor Reparative Research Symposium
In May of 2025, student research in African and African American Studies prompted the recommendation of Washington University's Chancellor and subsequent unanimous Board of Trustees' vote to remove the name of Dr. Robert J. Terry from all University features due to his leading role in several eugenics movements and human remains trafficking networks. You are part of these reparative change efforts.
Come and support student researchers as they advance understandings of WashU's connections to critical issues surrounding medical ethics, social policy, and human remains repatriation. This academic year, the Abraham Taylor Reparative Research Fellowship was established to honor the lives of those harmed by Professor Robert Terry (1871-1966) and his associates.
This collaborative work cultivates critical thinking, enables multi-disciplinary research experiences, and builds capacities for leadership in addressing legacies of discrimination in St. Louis and beyond.
Whether you are a health professional, policy expert, student, or interested community member, we hope that you will join us for a robust discussion on May 1st from 11:00 am-1:00 pm in Hillman Hall's Clark Fox Forum. Look forward to seeing you there!
