Professor Zafar keeps a busy schedule as folks just can't get enough of her 2019 book.
HEC Media’s documentary short, “Recipes for Respect”, profiling Rafia Zafar’s work on Black foodways, was nominated in November 2020 for a MidAmerica Emmy (alas it did not win). Her work was also spotlighted in “Tastes of Home: An Online Exhibition Exploring Immigrant Cultures through Food”, a virtual exhibit at the Angel Island Immigration Station museum (July-October 2020). Foodie journal Sauce Magazine ran an interview with Zafar in the November 2020 issue. Most recently, Professor Zafar guest lectured in Boston University’s Gastronomy program (and also this summer for the Northern California Culinary Historians Society). And the Detroit Free Press said her book was “essential”: Essential Black Cookbooks Detroit Free Press.
