Washington University's Summer Program in Kenya is a dynamic program in language and culture offering four weeks of full immersion in Nairobi, Rift Valley, and the coastal region of Kenya. This program, offered by the Department of African and African American Studies, is designed to enhance a student's understanding of Kenyan society by carefully blending coursework, homestays, community service projects, guest lectures, and memorable excursions.
The program is intended to accommodate individual student interests and may, therefore, appeal to students with interests in a broad range of fields, including Africana Studies, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Public Health, Performing Arts, and more. The program will be under the direction of Dr. Mungai Mutonya, a Teaching Professor at Washington University in St. Louis.
